Cozy up to Coffee Clutch

I love a good ‘cozy’ mystery, and Coffee Clutch drew me in from the very first page.
Jan, the suburban ’60s housewife, is a product of her time. She’s no feminist, no modern woman trapped in the wrong era. She acts and thinks authentically and it lent a wonderful depth to the narrative.
I very much appreciated the care with which Mr Thornton painted the scene and the characters. I could picture the neighbourhood, Jan and her family, her neighbours, all without being overwhelmed with description.
Mr Thornton builds suspense beautifully. While I had an idea who the murderer was, it didn’t detract from the tension, and the final whodunnit revelation was still fitting.
If the payoff wasn’t what I expected, the story more than made up for it. I enjoyed every moment. Thank you, Mr Thornton, for a very entertaining couple of hours.
